Data Management-Collecting Data

Today, students were asked to predict if there were more male or female students at our school. Afterwards, students performed an observational survey around the school. After tallying the results, students were asked why they think there are more female than male students.  It made for a very interesting discussion...

Sorting Angles

In this activity, students were given angles that they sorted based on what similarities and differences they noticed.  This group noticed that some angles were more than 90 degrees, less than 90 degrees, and equal to 90 degrees.



Read to Someone

As part of our Daily Five, students read to one another to improve comprehension and vocabulary. Plus it's fun!

Literacy in Action

Students listening to books on websites  raz-kids.com and tumblebooks.com.  Another listens to a book on CD.  Listening to reading is both enjoyable and a great way to introduce students to new vocabulary!

Mathematicians at Work


Students have been learning about linear measurement this month.  They have used a variety of tools such as metre sticks, measuring tapes, and trundle wheels to measure a variety of objects.
